KOKOMO, Ind. — A 16-year-old boy is facing charges for a shooting that wounded a teenage girl in Kokomo Friday.
Officers received a report of a 14-year-old female who was shot in the 700 block of East Taylor Street in Kokomo on Friday. After receiving first aid from officers and medics at the scene, the girl was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The teenager was later taken to an Indianapolis hospital due to the extent of her injuries. According to Kokomo police, the girl's condition was stable at last report Friday evening.
Officers detained the 16-year-old boy as part of their investigation around 6:45 p.m.
He was taken to the Kinsey Youth Center on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and aggravated battery, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of dangerous possession of a weapon/instrument of violence by a child.
