Whitestown police ask for public’s help following road rage shooting on I-65 that critically injured semi driver

The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday along northbound Interstate 65 near the Whitestown Parkway exit.

WHITESTOWN, Ind. — Whitestown police are asking for the public's help following an interstate road rage shooting that critically injured a semi driver Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. July 3 along northbound Interstate 65 near the Whitestown Parkway exit.

In a statement, the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department said the semi ran off the interstate and came to a stop on Perry Worth Road. A Boone County Sheriff's Office deputy who pulled up on the semi was told by bystanders that the male driver had been shot.

The driver was taken to an Indianapolis hospital. His condition was described by police as "stable but critical" as of Friday morning.

Witnesses told officers that the shooting happened during a "road rage incident" and that the suspect car brake checked multiple semis on the interstate.

"The suspect vehicle was described as a black in color sedan passenger car being driven by a female, with a male in the passenger seat," the department said.
