INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Sunday morning on the far east side of Indianapolis.
IMPD officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3600 block of Foxtail Drive, near 38th Street and North German Church Road, just after 4 a.m. Jan. 14.
When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics arrived and pronounced him dead shortly after.
Police said one person was detained after the incident and believed that person was responsible for the shooting. After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, police released the person, pending further investigation.
Investigators believe some type of disturbance happened prior to the shooting.
The Marion County Coroner's Office is working to determine the exact cause and manner of death. The office will reveal the identity of the victim once family has been notified.
