34-year-old woman killed in shooting on Indy's southwest side

The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Division Street, near West McCarty and South Harding streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday afternoon on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

According to IMPD, shortly before 2 p.m. on Aug. 11, officers responded to the 900 block of Division Street, near West McCarty and South Harding streets, on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Jazmine Elizabeth Johnson fatally shot. Police believe the incident was isolated and have detained two individuals, but no arrests have been made. IMPD said officers are working to acquire warrants to search a vehicle and a home. 

Monday morning, IMPD said one of the people detained was released and the other was arrested on unrelated charges.

IMPD has not shared information at this time about a possible motive.
