COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police arrested a man on a preliminary murder charge after the fatal shooting of another man Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in the 2600 block of Joseph Cox Court, northeast of Rocky Ford and Middle roads. They arrived to find a man who had been shot. The victim, later identified by police as 54-year-old Alejandro Flores, was later pronounced dead.
Officers located a suspect in the shooting, a 30-year-old Columbus man, "a short time later" walking nearby. The man was taken into custody and taken to the Columbus Police Department.
He was then taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary murder charge.
