1 killed, 10 injured after shooting at high school party in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — One person was killed and ten others were injured after a shooting at a high school party in Fort Wayne Saturday evening. 

According to a release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, around 10:25 p.m. on Oct. 19, officers responded to the 4900 block of Manistee Drive on the northeast side of Fort Wayne on a report of shots fired. Callers reported hearing shots and seeing people running in all directions. 

FWPD arrived on scene as victims began arriving at local hospitals.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a high school party was happening when shots began to ring out. Several party goers were struck by gunfire and one was pronounced dead at the scene. FWPD says a total of 11 people, including the deceased victim, were injured in the shooting. 

FWPD says it is unknown at this time how many suspects were involved with the shooting. The ten other victims are said to have non-life-threatening injuries.
