Report of house fire leads to deadly shooting investigation on Indy's northwest side

IMPD officers responded to the 5900 block of Guion Road, near West 59th Street, on a report of a person shot around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was found shot in a home that was reported to be on fire Tuesday morning on the city's northwest side.

Pike Township firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 5900 block of Guion Road, near West 59th Street, around 10 a.m. Oct. 31.

Firefighters found a man in the home and asked for police to respond.

IMPD officers arrived and determined the man had been shot. Medics took the man to a hospital in critical condition, but he died from his injuries, IMPD said.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will identify the victim and determine his manner and cause of death.

Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting as firefighters continue investigating how the fire started.
