INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was found shot and killed on the near west side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning.
Police responded to a report of a person down who had been shot in the 1100 block of Medford Avenue, near North Tibbs Avenue and 10th Street, shortly before 10:30 a.m. March 13.
IMPD officials said 24-year-old Cadari Lamont Warren was found in the backyard of an abandoned home and are investigating his death as a homicide.
Neighbors told 13News they heard gunshots around 3 a.m. but didn’t know what happened until hours later.
“This has never happened on my block. It hasn’t because everybody pretty much knows each other. We look out for each other,” Melaine Harris said.
IMPD said they didn’t receive any 911 calls about the gunshots and could not confirm if the gunfire is connected to the homicide.
“Did people hear something? Did they see something? The more information that neighbors can provide us, the more information that will help further the investigation,” IMPD Lt. Shane Foley said.
IMPD is asking neighbors to check their surveillance cameras and report anything suspicious.
The Marion County Coroner's Office called the death a homicide.
Police have not shared information at this time on a possible suspect or motive.
