GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — Deputies are investigating a deadly road rage shooting that happened in Grant County Sunday night.
In a post on the Grant County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Sheriff Del Garcia said deputies were alerted of a "possible road rage incident" on Interstate 69 around 10:15 p.m. Aug. 11.
Garcia said a man was on his way home from a fishing trip with his family when a semi-truck followed him off the State Road 26 exit and to his home in the 6000 block of East 900 South.
The sheriff said there was a "verbal altercation" that occurred.
Garcia said the driver of the car had a "weapon with a laser light" pointed at him, which deputies believed to be a weapon.
The driver of the car then allegedly shot at the semi-truck, hitting the driver. Garcia said the driver of the semi-truck then went across a "couple of corn fields," and the semi ended up catching on fire after crashing into a silo in the 5000 block of East 975 South.
The semi-truck driver was pronounced dead. The Grant County coroner will identify the deceased once family has been notified.
Garcia confirmed nobody has been arrested in connection to the incident at this time.
