INDIANAPOLIS — Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man found in a home on the southwest side of Indianapolis last month.
IMPD officers responded to a report of a person down in the 3300 block of Collier Street, near Kentucky Avenue and Mann Road, around 4 p.m. Jan. 29. When they arrived at the location, they found 31-year-old Brian Anthony Hendricks dead at the scene.
Police said Hendricks appeared to have suffered from some type of trauma. The coroner's office later ruled Hendricks' death a homicide.
Police said while they found Hendricks inside the home, they are also investigating who owns the house.
"It does have boards around the home. We are trying to explore who owns the home, there's family," IMPD Ofc. William Young said.
During the ensuing investigation, detectives identified Billy Crawford as a suspect in Hendricks' death.
On Friday, Feb. 9, officers with IMPD's Violent Crimes Unit found Crawford at a home near West Washington Street and South Holt Road and took him into custody without incident. He was arrested on a murder charge.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make a final charging decision in the case.
