37-year-old woman killed in shooting in west Indianapolis

The shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. in the 3000 block of Lupine Drive, near West 34th Street and Interstate 465.

INDIANAPOLIS — A 37-year-old woman was killed in a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis Friday evening.

It happened shortly before 7 p.m. in the 3000 block of Lupine Drive, near West 34th Street and Interstate 465, on Sept. 7. 

IMPD was dispatched to a report of shots fired in that area. When they arrived on scene, they found a woman shot in a vehicle. EMS arrived on scene and took the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. 

Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

She has since been identified by the Marion County Coroner's Office (MCCO) as 37-year-old Kierra Danielle Dotson.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. 

The MCCO will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.
