Man killed in northeast Indianapolis shooting

IMPD officers responded to the 4800 block of Lakeshore Place, which is near 82nd Street and Allisonville Road, around 10:20 p.m. Jan. 4.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was shot and killed on Indianapolis' northeast side Thursday evening.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 4, officers were called to the 4800 block of Lakeshore Place, which is near 82nd Street and Allisonville Road, on a report of a person shot.

Officers arrived and found one victim with a gunshot wound. An IMPD spokesperson told 13News the adult male victim was found dead in the hallway outside of an apartment unit.

The man was later identified as 32-year-old Derrick Curtis Perry II.

A woman was detained as part of the investigation. Police said the woman and man knew one another, but the nature of their relationship has not been confirmed by investigators.

Friday morning, IMPD said the woman had been released from custody pending further investigation after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
