Here is a list of 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Day events around Indianapolis

It is the only federal holiday that is also designated by Congress as a national day of service.

INDIANAPOLIS — Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is the only federal holiday that is also designated by Congress as a national day of service.

There are a series of events happening around Indianapolis that people can take part in on Monday, Jan. 15:

Madam Walker Legacy Center

The Madam Walker Legacy Center will be holding an MLK Day of Service event. 

In addition to the service activities, people will get to take part in art and educational activities.

Keynote speaker Roland Martin will present at noon.

Indiana Historical Society

The Indiana History Center will have free admission on Jan. 15. 

Visitors will be able to take part in storytelling and music and how to be of service to one another.

Activities will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Storytime will be at 10:30 a.m., and a concert will start at 2 p.m.

Eiteljorg Museum

The Eiteljorg Museum will have free admission on Monday, Jan. 15.

Indianapolis Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo will mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day encouraging visitors to embrace the day of service.

Admission will be free with a donation, and donation jars will be available around the zoo for people to donate to Gleaners Food Bank.

Indiana State Museum

The Indiana State Museum will have multicultural performances, as well as community-focused activities such as creating a mural, speech-making and more.

Admission will be free, with visitors encouraged to make a donation benefitting Gleaners Food Bank.

White River State Park

White River State Park is offering free admission, with visitors encouraged to donate to Gleaners Food Bank at the attractions around the park.

The park is also offering complimentary parking on Jan. 15.
