City leaders serve free meals to kids across Indianapolis as part of Summer Servings Program

Last year, Indy Parks provided 191,396 meals to residents across the city.

INDIANAPOLIS — City leaders served meals to kids in Indianapolis on Thursday as part of the Summer Servings Program.

The program provides free meals to all children 18 years and under at parks located across the city. Officials said the kids must be present and eat the meal on-site.

Eleven park locations are open Monday through Friday at various times. There are also five mobile units traveling to various parks, libraries and apartment complexes.

The program runs through July 26. After that, school officials said the After School Meals Program will start with new times. It's important to know that meals will not be served on the July 4th holiday.

Last year, Indy Parks provided 191,396 meals to residents across the city. Since 2013, more than 3 million meals have been served to nearby communities.
