Angela Cain
Community Affairs Director
Angela Cain came back to her "adopted home" of Central Indiana in 2002, because she missed Hoosier hospitality, her Midwest roots, and her nearby Ohio family. Angela serves as the Community Affairs Director at WTHR-TV. She oversees most of the station's community service projects, including Bob Gregory's Coats for Kids, the United Christmas Service campaign, the Race for the Cure to fight breast cancer, and Shattering the Silence, a campaign bringing awareness to the problem of domestic abuse. Angela also hosts the daily "WTHR Cares Community Calendar" and she profiles community issues, organizations, events and people in the "WTHR Cares Focus Segment" on Eyewitness News at Noon, Monday through Friday. Angela also produces community campaign reports and she and her staff produce special community-issues shows. In the past, those shows have included a one-hour Prime Time Special on domestic violence in Central Indiana and a half-hour special on breast cancer.
Before returning to Central Indiana, Angela spent seven years in Texas as an early evening news anchor, health reporter and Community Affairs talk show host at KXAS-TV, an NBC owned and operated television station in Dallas/Fort Worth. Prior to heading to Texas in 1993, Angela served as a weekend anchor/reporter at RTV6 in Indianapolis for six years.

Since joining WTHR-TV, Angela and her staff have been honored with several awards including four Regional Emmys – three of them for the six-year-old Shattering the Silence campaign which includes special news series and public service announcements urging domestic abuse victims to seek help. She and her staff have also won a National Gracie Allen Award from the American Women in Radio and Television for the Shattering the Silence campaign; five consecutive "Outstanding Community Service" awards for a television station from the Indiana Broadcasters Association; and four Indiana Associated Press "First Place Awards" for Best Community Impact. But Angela says the real reward is being able to have an impact on people's lives in Central Indiana.
Angela has also been honored to receive several personal awards for her community service, including the first-ever Empowerment Award, for empowering abuse victims to seek help, from the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence; the Salute to Women of Achievement Award from the YWCA of Central Indiana; the CLD (Center for Leadership Development) Mass Media award for leading the various WTHR community service campaigns; and the Love and Compassion award from the Ebenezer Church Foundation for advocating for social justice through her personal and professional commitment to community service.
Angela also spends a lot of personal time emceeing, serving as keynote speaker, or attending dozens of community events at schools, churches, and fundraisers for non-profit organizations year-round. Her community service has an emphasis on motivating and guiding young people and empowering women. Angela's current and/or past memberships include: the Society of Professional Journalists; the Indiana Association of Black Journalists; a community task force participant for the Domestic Violence Network of Greater Indianapolis; and a board member for Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis.
Originally from London Ohio, near Columbus, Angela received her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Wright State University in Dayton. In her free time, Angela enjoys reading, writing music, and spending time with her husband and their daughters.
