INDIANAPOLIS — May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. On Saturday, "Asian Fest" took over the Indiana Historical Society to celebrate.
The event was free to attend and featured arts, music, food and even a health fair. Organizers say the event is all about celebrating each other and learning something along the way.
"Well, I think we are one city. One state. We are made up of all kinds of different people, and we should get to know one another," said Jody Blankenship of the IHS. "Who we are, our cultures, our heritage, where we come from, and what we're like, so that we can build a stronger community tomorrow."
Saturday's event was hosted by Indy's Asian American Alliance.
