INDIANAPOLIS — The 500 Festival Rookie Run is the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" for the kids that came out on Saturday.
"We love having the kids run the streets of downtown Indy, it's often times their first run they are doing so there are definitely some timid, a lot of emotions out on the streets," said Lindsay Labas with the 500 Festival.
During the run, hundreds of families joined the fun on Monument Circle.
"It's fun seeing everyone come out, be on Monument Circle and be apart of the celebration that is May," said Labas.
As the kids crossed the finish line, organizers say this day was all about bringing families together to celebrate May.
"That is one of our favorite parts of why we do what we do, just getting the community together," said Labas.
