FISHERS, Ind. — Eyewitness News
Fishers, April 2 - A two year old boy is dead after a fire at his home at 10392 Cotton Blossom Drive, in the Woodberry subdivision.
Fishers Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at approximately 10:15 am Sunday, and arrived within 5 minutes. They were able to quickly locate two year old Garrison Chamberlain and carry him out of the burning home, but he had already passed away.
Smoke alarms alerted the homeowner, Gary Chamberlain, to the fire. He was able to pull two of his young grandchildren from the burning bedroom, but heat and smoke were too intense when he returned for the third child. Three other children and three adults who were also in the house at the time of the fire escaped without injury.
The fire appears to have started in the bedroom where the toddler died, and was largely contained to that room, while the other areas of the home sustained substantial smoke and heat damage. A small dog also perished from apparent smoke inhalation.
Investigators have not yet released a cause for the fire.
The Fishers Fire Department was assisted at the scene by firefighters from Noblesville, and by investigators from the Fishers Police Department, Noblesville Fire Department, and Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office.
