Survey: 48% of workers plan to look for a new job

Forty-eight percent of workers said they plan to job hunt in the next 12 months, according to a new survey.

INDIANAPOLIS — Forty-eight percent of workers said they plan to job hunt in the next 12 months, according to a survey by Bankrate.

That is down from 56% in March 2023.

Young workers, including millennials and Gen Z, are more prone to job-hop than other generations, their survey also found.

Bankrate's experts say finding a new job may be more challenging than it was just a few years ago, but still certainly possible.

Their advice is to lean on your network: connect with former colleagues and others in your industry.

Experts also suggest having a well-stocked emergency fund, and always negotiate for more money and better benefits.

Before negotiations begin, it is important to find a friend and rehearse those conversations. Working your way out of an employer's "no" when you are under pressure takes practice.
