INDIANAPOLIS — Electronics are supposed to steer clear of your regular trash because of the heavy metals they contain. It is also the law.
That is why the Indianapolis Department of Public Works, Office of Sustainability and their partner, RecycleForce, are hosting a free electronics recycling event. It will take place on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Krannert Park, located at 605 S. High School Road on the west side of Indianapolis.
The event news release said, "as a general rule, acceptable electronics for the event include anything with a cord attached, plus the items listed at the bottom of this release."
Here's a list of acceptable items:
- Cell phones
- Circuit boards
- Computers/Laptops
- External disk drives
- External tape drive
- Gaming systems and accessories
- Hair dryers and styling irons
- Hard drives
- Joy sticks
- Keyboards
- Microphones
- Microwaves
- Modems
- Monitors
- Mouse
- PC cards
- PC speakers
- Printers
- Scanners
- Tablets
- Toasters
- Televisions of any size or age
- Uninterrupted power supply batteries
- USB drives
Non-electronic materials will not be accepted during this event.
The city said those who are unable to attend can recycle unwanted electronics on Saturdays at the City’s regular ToxDrop sites across the county.
