INDIANAPOLIS — Average gasoline prices in Indianapolis fell 4 cents per gallon over the past week, but could be increasing again soon.
That's according to GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan, who said Monday, "The Great Lakes could see gas prices jump up after having fallen for the last week or so."
According to DeHaan, "The decline we've seen in average gas prices has been slowing down, as oil prices have held above $100 after declining under that level as recently as a few weeks ago. For the near future, we'll see a mix of slight decreases and some potential increases mixed in."
The average price Monday is Indianapolis was $4.13 per gallon when GasBuddy surveyed more than 650 stations in central Indiana. You could find gas as low as $3.85 per gallon Sunday, while the most expensive pump price in the area for a gallon of regular gas was $4.45 per gallon.
Statewide, GasBuddy shows the average price per gallon increased from $4.16 to $4.18 in the last week, while the national average price of gasoline is unchanged over that same time — averaging $4.23 early Monday.
According to AAA, Indiana's average per gallon price was $4.18 Monday with the national average at $4.24 per gallon.
"While the national average should start to stabilize for the time being, there's no telling what's around the corner, at least for now, as the volatility in oil prices persists," DeHaan added.
