INDIANAPOLIS — Some schools went back to class last week, and thousands of Indianapolis Public School students will be heading back to school Monday.
If your child still needs school supplies, there's a backpack giveaway happening Sunday at Verizon TCC and Wireless Zone stores across the country, including 28 locations in central Indiana.
The giveaway runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET, or as long as supplies last. Backpacks will be given out on a first come, first serve basis, with one backpack per child.
Verizon plans to hand out more than 140,000 backpacks full of pencils, paper, folders, a ruler and glue.
Families can also enter their children into a sweepstakes where they could win one of five $10,000 college scholarships. Children in grades K-12 are eligible for entry and can register at their local stores during the backpack giveaway.
