INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Move over Popeyes and Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell is entering the fried chicken competition.
The Mexican fast food chain is testing new Crispy Tortilla Chicken, set to hit menus nationwide in 2020. The new item is white-meat chicken that's marinated in jalepeño buttermilk-flavored marinade, then rolled in a crunchy tortilla chip coating.
The strips come with a new signature dipping sauce — Creamy Chili Pepper Sauce — but can also be served inside a taco.
The company is testing out the strips in Houston and Dayton beginning Friday, and will introduce them to menus nationwide next year.
The taco will cost $1.99, and the strips with be $2.99 for a 2-piece and $3.99 for a 3-piece. Get 2-piece and 3-piece boxes for $5 and $7, respectively.
