INDIANAPOLIS — The city's oldest bar, the Slippery Noodle, reopened for lunch Thursday for the first time since March 16, when the pandemic brought the restaurant and bar business to a grinding halt.
"I'm 14 shades of excitement about actually seeing customers," owner Hal Yeagy said.
Yeagy tried to reopen two previous times on July 9 and Aug. 6 but had to put things on hold after COVID-19 restrictions were strengthened.
The Noodle opens for dinner and live music Thursday as well. The band will set up in a large parking lot adjacent to the restaurant and separated from patrons to ensure social distancing.
Yeagy also noted, "patrons must be seated at tables."
He said bands are set to perform 7:30-11:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, weather permitting. Bands are also lined up for next week, playing Wednesday through Saturday.
