Nike stepping into shoe subscription business

Just in time for the back-to-school season, Nike has introduced a subscription service just for kids.

(WTHR) — Just in time for the back-to-school season, Nike has introduced a subscription service just for kids.

Nike Adventure Club launched Monday, and it may be a solution to parents who find themselves in and out of shoe stores all year long as their kids continuously grow out of their shoes.

The service allows kids to choose from a variety of Nike and Converse shoes as their feet — and sense of style — grow and change.

There are three tiers of the service — ranging from $20 to $50 per month — where kids will get four pairs per year to 12 pairs per year. Kids can choose from more than 100 styles, and they'll be delivered straight to your door.

If kids love the shoes, they can keep them; if they're ready for something new, send the old pair back, and Nike will either donate or recycle them. Subscribers can change or pause their subscription at any time.

Shoes are delivered in a box with the kid's name on it and include activity guides that include ideas for family-friendly outdoor games and activities. Nike created the activity guides in partnership with KaBoom, a nonprofit organization that encourages playful activity for kids.
