INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Businesses continue to announce closures as COVID-19 threatens communities.

Retail giant IKEA announced Wednesday all U.S. stores would temporarily close. Shoppers will still be able to use the store's online shopping and home delivery services. Select locations, including Fishers, are offering the Click & Collect service where customers can order online and pick up at the store.

"Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures," said IKEA U.S. President Javier Quiñones. "This is the most responsible way IKEA can continue to care for our co-workers and our customers in a manner that is healthy and safe."

While the public is not allowed to shop in the store, stores will remain fully operational so employees can fulfill online orders. The company said it is taking measures to make sure stores are sanitized and set up so employees can work at a safe social distance.

IKEA did not specify a plan for workers who could not or did not feel comfortable working at this time. The company say employees could take advantage of their paid leave policies.
