MUNCIE, Ind. — A career conference centered on supporting and connecting women in business throughout Indiana is launching at Muncie’s Horizon Convention Center at the end of November.
On Saturday November 4, the Growing Remarkable Opportunities With Women, or G.R.O.W., conference is coming to Muncie to inspire and celebrate Indiana women in business.
Muncie residents River Lin and Brittany Scott co-created the premier conference. Lin is a creator of Zokawa: The Center of Happiness, while Scott is a perinatal fitness expert and creator of Mom Gets Moxie.
The conference is an offshoot of the weekly Muncie networking group, G.R.O.W, which was also co-founded by Lin and Scott in January 2023.
That networking group combines education with networking for women in business, non-profit or university settings throughout Indiana.
The following speakers at breakout sessions will offer practical business information to participants:
Tania Said, owner of Tania Said Consulting (com), will speak about language diversity in the workplace.
WaTasha Barnes Griffin, chief executive officer of the YWCA Central Indiana, will speak about “Women Leaders: Decisive, Effective, Inclusive.”
Candy Dodd, associate program director at the Ball State University Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute, will speak on “Lego Leadership.”
Anna Stumpf, adjunct professor at Ball State University (also known as the Golden Ticket Professor), will speak about using LinkedIn to grow professionally.
Jennifer Stanley, owner of Living Well by Jennifer Stanley (com), will speak about “The Trilogy of Living Well: Enneagram. Purpose. Health.”
The conference will offer snacks, a buffet lunch, and a plated dinner followed by a live local band, Mike Martin and the Beautiful Mess, to close out the day with a cash bar and informal networking in the festive environment.
The G.R.O.W. networking group received the Mayor’s Impact award in April 2023.
