FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) — If you were looking forward to enjoying burgers and shakes from the new Shake Shack planned for the Fishers District anytime soon, keep waiting.

When Shake Shack confirmed the first streetside Shack in February, it was eyeing an opening in late 2020.

Developers at Thompson Thrift told 13News construction for most new locations of the popular burger chain had been put on hold. Thompson Thrift said they received a statement from Shake Shack Tuesday:

"In response to COVID-19, the majority of new design and construction of future Shacks has been temporarily suspended and openings have been put on pause."

Thompson Thrift did not specify if the Fishers location was in fact part of the majority that are suspending construction or when a grand opening is now expected.

The new restaurant will feature all the classics, including the ShackBurger, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes, plus a selection of frozen custard concretes in collaboration with local food partners.

It will also feature patio seating and will be constructed with recycled and sustainable materials.

13News has also reached out the HMS host, the company operating the Shake Shack planned to open in Concourse B of the Indianapolis International Airport.
