CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - A rural hospital in eastern Indiana is filing for bankruptcy.
Fayette Regional in Connersville says they can no longer operate under "mounting debt and tightening financial resources."
They're blaming it on things like government funding cuts and unfunded care mandates.
But the hospital says this does not mean they're shutting down.
"This is a reorganization process, we're not closing the doors. Reorganization will allow us the ability to align our operations under current health care industry to meet the needs of the community," said a statement provided by the hospital.
They're vowing to give patients the best care possible during this transition but say they will be ending some services.
