INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Dunkin' has removed its foam cups and replaced them with double-walled paper cups at all of its U.S. restaurants.

The new, double-walled paper cups, made with paperboard certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Standard, will be used to serve all hot beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and hot chocolate.

Dunkin' said the new cups are able to keep beverages hot while keeping hands cool without the need for a sleeve.

In the press release, Dunkin' said the transition to paper cups will remove approximately 1 billion foam cups from the waste stream annually.

Dunkin’ is also on track to fully transition to new, recyclable hot coffee cup lids in all of its U.S. restaurants by the end of the summer.
