Eyewitness News Sunrise continues its "As Seen on TV" series by testing out a hairbrush that may be a timesaver for women with curly hair.
The "Simply Straight Ceramic Hair Straightening Styling Brush" claims to "combine the power of a flat iron with the gentle styling of a brush - making straightening your hair as easy as brushing it."
Eyewitness News ordered the product from hsn.com. It came with a mat for heat protection.
Brandi McClanahan Ogle from Fortville agreed to help test the product with two of her daughters and two of her nieces ages 6 to 20. The ladies each have different lengths and styles of hair.
"I naturally have curly hair so when I take this pony tail out, it's just huge. And if you can tell, all of my girls have somewhat naturally curly hair," McClanahan Ogle said.
Her daughters and nieces struggle with straightening their hair, so she plugged in the brush and let it warm all the way to the highest setting, 450 degrees.
"We're at 417, we're getting close. Oh and it is getting very warm, very warm," McClanahan Ogle said.
Each girl got a turn in the hot seat and all of them were impressed.
"It's doing it well and she's got the curl, but it is taking the curl out," McClanahan Ogle said. "Look at this side, this side is beautiful. It's straight, straight. Oh yeah!"
The demonstration video online shows a dramatic before and after. The ladies from Fortville saw similar results.
"This is great. I like it... Oh yeah, and look how shiny it looks there," McClanahan Ogle said.
The brush did pull some strands of hair leaving them tangled in the brush. It can also stay warm for a few minutes after it is unplugged. Overall, however, the ladies approved.
"Okay maybe this thing is a winner," McClanahan Ogle said.
The "Simply Straight Ceramic Hair Straightening Styling Brush" costs about $35 from the HSN Website.
