As Seen on TV: Sunrise tries out the Roto Clipper

Do you ever wonder if those "As Seen on TV" products actually work? Naomi Pescovitz is putting them to the test. First up? The Roto Clipper!

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - We know you have seen the ads on TV, companies promising amazing results for your lawn, your hair, your kitchen.

Do you ever wonder if they really work?

Eyewitness News Weekend Sunrise Anchor Naomi Pescovitz teamed up with some Central Indiana families to test them out.

One product, called the Roto Clipper, promises a "fast, easy & safe way to trim & file your nails."

We brought the Roto Clipper to Katie Surfleet and her 8-year-old son, Blake, who live on the north side. The Surfleets had never tried the clipper before and usually trim using standard nail clippers.

After opening the box, they found they needed two AA batteries. Instructions recommend soaking your hands in warm water for 30 seconds before clipping.

Blake was the first guinea pig, and said the the Roto Clipper didn't hurt at all.

"It tickles," Blake said.

Katie had a try, too.

"It feels good. It's really nice and smooth," Katie said. "It kind of files it at the same time."

Blake and Katie liked the way the product clipped and smoothed their nails. They also liked the light on top that helped them see where and what they were trimming. The compartment at the top also holds all the clippings, which you can scoop out with a little brush that comes with the clipper.

"My number one reason I like it, is that there's no way I can hurt him with it," Katie said.

Katie and Blake gave the Roto Clipper two perfectly-groomed thumbs up.

The clippers come in a buy-one-get-one pack. Including shipping, two Roto Clippers cost about $27.

Eyewitness News reached out to the company behind the Roto Clipper for this story and did not receive a response.
