$800M investment could bring Facebook's parent company to Lebanon

The city council just approved a series of incentives to bring Meta to Lebanon's LEAP District.

LEBANON, Ind. — The Lebanon City Council approved plans Monday that could bring Facebook's parent company to Boone County.

The possible $800 million investment from Meta in the city's LEAP District includes a series of incentives, including a TIF district.

Plans are not finalized, but area leaders say a proposed first phase of the project can be expected to include a campus with four buildings and 80 employees making an average of $36 an hour.

“While not yet finalized, their proposed investment would demonstrate a strong commitment to contributing to the growth and well-being of our community,” said Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry.

Gentry said the company could close on the land by the end of the year.

Last month, Eli Lilly and Co. announced a $4.5 billion investment to create a "medicine foundry" in the LEAP District. The company says their project will bring hundreds of jobs and will shorten drug research and manufacturing time when it opens in 2027.
