INDIANAPOLIS — For some, Feb. 29 is just an extra day every four years — Leap Day.

But for some, it is a chance to celebrate their true birthday.

Ascension St. Vincent tells 13News, it expects to have 22 babies total born Feb. 29, 2024, across its six labor and delivery hospitals in Indiana. As of 2 p.m., there were 12 Leap babies born already.

One of those was baby Sloane Osburn. Mom Regan and dad Finn welcomed the new addition Thursday morning. Their OB/GYN has been delivering babies for 11 years, but this was her first Leap Day baby delivery.

IU Health tells 13News they've had 15 Leap Day babies at Riley Maternity Tower at Riley Hospital for Children. They also had a Leap Day baby at IU Health North.

Franciscan Health Family Birth Centers in Indianapolis and Mooresville also welcomed some cute Leap Day bundles of joy.
