Pat Sullivan's tips for maintaining patio furniture

Pat joins 13Sunrise every Sunday to share tips on how you can better maintain the things around your house.

INDIANAPOLIS — Summer is in full swing! That means its time to soak in the sun outdoors and celebrate the season

Pat Sullivan, with Sullivan Hardware and Garden, is back on 13Sunrise to give his tips on how you can maintain your patio furniture.

Here are Pat's best tips:

  • Cast aluminum furniture holds up well outside. To clean it, use WD-40.
  • The wind will destroy your umbrella if its not kept down in the wind. So if you're not going to put your umbrella down, buy the cheapest one.
  • A 50 pound base is the best size to hold an umbrella. If you want your umbrella to stand alone without a table, you need an 80 pound base.
  • Cushions are expensive, so make sure to bring them inside when it rains. If you can't bring them inside, spray them with water protectant.
