INDIANAPOLIS — Christmas is right around the corner and as kids get ready to open the gift they have been begging for for almost two months, parents should prepare for some safety hazards.

Here are a few tips on how you can have a safe Christmas:
- Do not throw wrapping paper into the fireplace.
- A chimney sweeping log is not a substitute for a chimney inspection.
- Know where to find your fire extinguisher.
- Use carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.
