INDIANAPOLIS — Every year, boys, ghouls and families get dressed up to get some free candy in their favorite Halloween costumes.

From out-of-this-world looks from "Star Wars" to classics from "Super Mario Bros," Hoosiers get creative every year when they dress up for trick-or-treating.

Here's the top five Halloween costumes in central Indiana, according to Google's Frightgeist:

#1 - Lydia Deetz

With the very popular and recent premiere of "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," one of the main characters' looks from the movie has taken over the conversation for Halloween costumes in 2024. 

From the spiky, black bangs to the dark eyeliner, this look is sure to spark some fear in your neighbors while trick-or-treating.

#2 - Tinker Bell

As one of Disney's classic characters, "Tink" has been a popular choice to dress up as over the years.

Her glitter-filled wings and sparkly makeup will be sure to brighten up your neighborhood on the spookiest night of the year.

#3 - Boo (From "Monsters, Inc.")

Sticking with the Disney theme, the star of the classic 2011 "Monsters, Inc." has continued to take over the hearts of neighborhoods as the little ones run by on their way to their next house for candy. 

The pink outfit and pigtails are sure to be a popular look this year.

#4 - Padmé Amidala

Blasting off to a different universe, "Star Wars" has always held a wide catalog of different out-of-this-world costumes from slimy creatures to jedi knights. 

Darth Vader's love interest has been a recurring choice for those who dress up and want to go all out with their hair. 

#5 - Playboy bunny

Dressing up as a cocktail waitress who works at a Playboy Club has continuously been a well sought-after costume ever since the first mansion opened in 1959.
