INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Zoo is welcoming two of the world's largest tortoise species.
The giant tortoise exhibit featuring Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises will open Memorial Day Weekend 2025.
"Guests will have opportunities to come face-to-face with these giants, which can measure up to four feet long and weigh several hundred pounds," the zoo said in a press release.
In coordination with the exhibit announcement, the 2025 edition of the Indianapolis Zoo's largest fundraising event will be called "Zoobilation 2025: Giant Shellabration," presented by Citizens Energy Group.
Tickets for Zoobilation go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. ET on the Indianapolis Zoo's website, with the event taking place Friday, June 13.
According to the Indianapolis Zoo, Zoobilation is the Midwest's largest black-tie fundraising event, with a purpose of providing for the care of the Indianapolis Zoo's 1,400 animals and 48,000 plants, as well as the Indianapolis Zoo's global conservation network.
