CARMEL, Ind. — A playful pup gave Carmel firefighters a chance to train with some new equipment Monday.
The Carmel Fire Department got a call from the owners of a Hungarian pointer named "Rex," who was swimming in a neighborhood pond, chasing a mother duck and her babies. Rex's owners told firefighters they were concerned he would tire himself out while swimming and drown, or catch the ducks.
Firefighters from Station 346 were dispatched with a new rescue boat to bring Rex to shore.
"We're not sure who was having more fun, Rex or the firefighters chasing him down," the fire department wrote on Facebook.
Eventually, firefighters were able to get Rex on the boat and bring him home safely.
