'The Veil' creator discusses electric' chemistry between co-stars Elisabeth Moss, Yumna Marwan in spy thriller limited series

New episodes of "The Veil" are released Tuesdays on Hulu through May 28.

INDIANAPOLIS — Screenwriter, director and producer Steven Knight has helped create some of the biggest movies and shows in the last 30 years, including the original "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" in the United Kingdom, "Peaky Blinders," "All the Light We Cannot See" and "Spencer," starring Kristen Stewart.

His new limited series, "The Veil," stars two-time Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss ("The Handmaid's Tale," "Mad Men") as a veteran MI6 agent who seeks to reveal a woman's secret before thousands of lives are lost.

"We knew we got Elisabeth after I'd written the second script, which then liberated me to know that actually, you're driving a Ferrari – you've got the best of the best – so therefore, you can adjust the way you write stuff because you know, often, you don't need the world because she's able to do what she does."

Co-starring alongside Moss is relative newcomer Yumna Marwan ("Little Birds"), who's character is suspected of being an ISIS leader planning an attack.

"We got so lucky with her. The two of them together are electric," Knight said of Marwan and Moss. "It's very difficult to find someone who's just right like she is."

Is Marwan's character a terrorist? Is Moss' character trying to help or hurt Marwan's? The spy thriller limited series keeps audiences up until the sixth and final episode.

"I think the most important thing as a writer is to keep yourself guessing — it sounds very odd, but I've never had the full map, the full outline in my head," Knight said. "What I wanted to do was find out things about these characters as I was writing and to always believe they are being honest with each other, even when they're lying about the facts or the details — emotionally and personally, that they're being honest."

New episodes of "The Veil" are released Tuesdays on Hulu through May 28.
