INDIANAPOLIS — It's "Yellowstone" meets "Succession" in "The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys."
The Peacock docuseries is set in rural Missouri at the McBee Farm and Cattle, which is on the brink of becoming a billion-dollar business — or a financial disaster.
Which of Steven McBee's four sons – Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole and Brayden – will take over the farm when he retires?
"This is our daily life, our daily battles, and we're just showcasing it to the world, along with all of the personal drama that we deal with and all of our relationships and everything else," Steven Jr. said.
And it's hard to say which of the brothers' quarrels are serious or playful jabs as they each try to prove they are the rightful successor to the business.
"We all have such different personalities that my dad's gonna have to end up choosing one day, who's gonna take over the ranch, and the ranch is gonna go in a completely different direction on who he chooses," Jesse said.
When it comes to farming, Jesse dispelled a common misconception.
"They don't think farmers or ranchers actually care about the animals," Jesse said. "It's honestly the complete opposite. We are passionate about the land, passionate about the animals, and that's why we're out there every day. Otherwise, we would not be. It's a tireless job. It's a seven-day-a-week, almost feels like 24 hours-a-day job."
And both brothers shared a final tease for viewers.
"Get ready for love affairs, family drama, relationship problems — all that on top of trying to run a 40,000-acre, 2,000 head of cattle operation, with car washes, the meat facility. There's so much for everybody to get into. It's really a show for everybody out there," Jesse said.
"If you think Episode 1 was drama-filled, just wait — there's way more to come," Steven Jr. said.
All 10 episodes of "The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys" are now streaming on Peacock.
