'Massive amounts of blood' | Oscar nominee Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa discuss 'Chucky' TV series

New episodes air Wednesdays on USA Network and SyFy, and stream Thursdays on Peacock.

INDIANAPOLIS — Seven films – and one remake – later in the "Child's Play" franchise, everyone's favorite killer doll is starring in his own TV series.

Now in its third season, "Chucky" comes to Washington, D.C. as the titular doll seeks to kill the President of the United States, played by Devon Sawa ("Final Destination," "Nikita"), who also played a father, uncle and priest in previous seasons.

"This is definitely the most grounded of all the roles. The other roles were a little bit heightened," Sawa said. "I've had the most fun with this season."

Also returning for the TV series is Chucky's love interest, Tiffany Valentine, played once again by Oscar nominee Jennifer Tilly ("Bullets Over Broadway," "Liar Liar"), who also portrays an exaggerated version of herself throughout the series.

"The second half is just cray, cray, cray," Tilly said. "Massive amounts of blood."

And according to Tilly, "Chucky" is going to be in the Guinness World Records for the most amount of blood used in a television series.

"Half the studio was full of tanks – just tanks of blood – and we used it all," Sawa said. "There was one particular scene that I dealt with so much blood that the next day, I had to go to the doctor to get my ear rinsed out of blood."

In the third season, Chucky is getting older due to a voodoo spell from the second season — so will the iconic horror character finally meet his demise?

"Tiffany is still in love with Chucky, which is an odd turn of events since last year (when) she sawed his head off," Tilly said. "I'm the woman that stands behind my plastic little man."

New episodes of "Chucky" air Wednesdays on USA Network and SyFy, and stream Thursdays on Peacock.
