INDIANAPOLIS — The latest reality TV dating show sees couples exploring polyamory.
In "Couple to Throuple," four curious couples bring a third partner into their relationship. At the end of their time at a remote tropical resort, the couples will decide if they will commit as a throuple, go home as they arrived or leave separately.
"Like most things do, it got a little crazy, but it also got really cool, really beautiful," said host Scott Evans ("Access Hollywood," "World of Dance"). "It's a beautiful instance of communication and desire, what happens when people are able to be honest and open outside of the norm when it comes to relationships."
Dr. Shamyra Howard, an international award-winning sexologist, social worker and sex therapist, is there to guide the couples as they form new bonds and test their limits — and Howard is aware of people who are quick to dismiss the series since it counters monogamy.
"Try to view this with an open mind. Of course, there are going to be people with criticisms, especially people from communities who will be represented in 'Couple to Throuple,'" Howard said.
As with other reality TV dating shows, there's going to be plenty of drama and humor, but also education into non-monogamous relationships.
"I think we did an excellent job of sneaking in quite a bit of information, so if you are not someone who is familiar with this lifestyle, I think you're gonna learn quite a bit as well," Evans said.
The first three episodes of "Couple to Throuple" begin streaming Thursday, Feb. 8 on Peacock, followed by one episode released each Thursday.
