'He really blew us away' | 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?' cast previews Travis Kelce-hosted game show

The game show begins streaming Wednesday, Oct. 16 on Prime Video.

INDIANAPOLIS — Do you remember Jeff Foxworthy hosting "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

Prime Video is rebooting the game show, now titled, "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" and hosted by three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce.

Each game will welcome an adult contestant who will rely on a classroom full of celebrities to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects to try to win a $100,000 prize.

"I loved hearing every person's stories, and everyone had a different reason for why they were trying to make the money there," said reality TV personality and podcaster Sophia Stallone ("The Family Stallone"). "Some of them were super inspiring that made me want to answer the questions even more right."

The classroom of celebrities changes each episode, ranging from actors, comedians, former professional athletes, and reality TV and YouTube personalities.

And this time around, viewers at home won't have to continually question how the average fifth grader could possibly get all of the answers correct.

"They were actively involved in school at that time. They were cheating. That's an unfair advantage," said comedian and actor Ron Funches ("Loot," "Trolls"). "What we have done is taken people who haven't gone to school in 20, 30 years and perhaps even when they were in school, weren't good at it, and now we're making them answer questions."

Also starring in the FX horror drama series "Grotesquerie," Kelce is having a big year aside from his tight end duties for the Kansas City Chiefs.

"He really killed it. Believe me, I wanted to hate him. I'm not a football fan," said comedian and actress Natasha Leggero ("Chelsea Lately," "Another Period"). "He took the job very seriously and really kind of nailed it, and we were all really impressed with him. He got all the jokes, he loved joking around. He had an opinion. There were some things he was like, 'nope, I'm not gonna say it.' He really blew us away."

"Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?," hosted by Travis Kelce, begins streaming Oct. 16, 2024, on Prime Video.

After getting asked to be part of the show, how do these celebrities study or prepare?

"I was just Googling stuff. I was like, 'What do third graders know?' 'What does a fifth grader know?'" said comedian and actress Nicole Byer ("Nailed It!"). "And honestly, Google was not helpful. I could've been more specific to help the Google, but I wasn't, so I was like, I'm gonna go in with my confidence."

The first three episodes of "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" begin streaming Wednesday, Oct. 16 on Prime Video, followed by weekly releases through Feb. 12 as part of Prime Video's "Winning Wednesdays" programming.
