TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Richard Goodall, the winner of "America's Got Talent," is back home again in Indiana.
He started the homecoming celebrations at the school where he first gained his fame as the "singing janitor."
The students, staff and city leaders from across Terre Haute welcomed Goodall back to West Vigo Middle School on Friday, Sept. 27.
A member of the mayor's office gave Goodall the key to the city of Terre Haute before Goodall took center stage to speak to the crowd who has been cheering him on every step of the way.
After the ceremony, Goodall took time to visit some of the district's youngest students and their teachers.
And the kids even started singing "Don't Stop Believin'" – Goodall's golden buzzer song – as he walked through the halls to give them high-fives and hugs.
As for what's next in the bigger picture for Goodall, that's still to be decided by him and his new wife, Angie Vanoven, whom he married days before the "AGT" finale.
"We're really just waiting to see what happens after the show, any offers that come our way," Goodall said. "We've spotted our eye on a house in Terre Haute. And then, the sky's the limit after the show."
Being the feel-good story of the season, Goodall has inspiring advice on chasing your dreams.
"The song 'Don't Stop Believin' encompasses where I came from. If you don't stop believing, if you put yourself out there, the possibilities are endless," Goodall said. "Take a chance, take that risk and go for it. If you put yourself out of your comfort zone for just a minute, you'll see the risk is worth the reward."
