Country music band Alabama to perform at new Fishers Event Center

Tickets for the concert, featuring special guest Lee Greenwood, go on sale Friday, Aug. 9.

FISHERS, Ind. — Country Music Hall of Fame band Alabama is coming to central Indiana this December.

The multi-platinum country rock group will perform at the new Fishers Event Center on Monday, Dec. 9, with special guest Lee Greenwood.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 on the event center website

The facility, which describes itself as "the largest mid-size event center in the region," is scheduled to open in November in the Fishers District, near East 106th Street and Interstate 69.

Founded in 1969 by cousins Randy Owens, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, Alabama found its biggest success in the 1980s, when it tallied more than two dozen No. 1 hits.

Known for a blend of traditional country music with elements of folk, pop and bluegrass, Alabama has sold over 75 million records, making it one of the most successful bands in country music history.

In mid-July, the Fishers Event Center announced the first wave of events at the facility in November.
