INDIANAPOLIS — Movie lovers will be able to get early access to one of the most anticipated films of the fall: "Joker: Folie à Deux."
The action musical, starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, will debut exclusively in IMAX theatres on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., four days ahead of the film’s official release on Oct. 4.
And one of those lucky theaters is the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum, located at 650 W. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis.
"'Joker: Folie à Deux' will visually expand to fill the screen – allowing moviegoers to experience more captured images with unprecedented detail and clarity. That, combined with next-generation IMAX precision sound, creates a truly immersive experience," a spokesperson for the Indiana State Museum said.
Here's a full description of the film:
"'Joker: Folie à Deux' finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him."
“This romantic misadventure, set to music and taking place in one of the most iconic film cities ever, is one you just have to see on the big screen,” said Neale Johantgen, IMAX theater manager. “It is beautifully produced, and epic in our full aspect ratio!”
Moviegoers for this premiere will also get an exclusive IMAX mini poster.
Parking will be available at the White River State Park parking garage.
