INDIANAPOLIS — Actress Angela Kinsey could not be more opposite of her snobby, patronizing character, Angela Martin, in "The Office."
In her Hallmark Christmas movie debut, Kinsey stars in "Confessions of a Christmas Letter," as her character hires a struggling novelist (Alec Santos) to craft the perfect letter for her town's annual holiday letter-writing contest.
"My mom is super excited because my mom said I played the grump for a long time, but I am not grumpy in this," Kinsey said. "One of my most exciting text messages I sent to my family group thread was, 'Y'all, I am in a Hallmark Christmas movie!'"
Fans of "The Office" will get a mini reunion as Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone, has a cameo in "Confessions of a Christmas Letter."
"We had such a blast getting to act together again. I was like, 'Brian, we have to do another one of these,'" Kinsey said. "It was really wild not being Kevin and Angela Martin and being normal, happy folks."
And the big news keeps coming for "The Office" alums, as John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, was recently named People's Sexiest Man Alive.
"I was like, John. Oh my goodness! It's kind of like your brother getting that award," Kinsey said. "I feel like we're gonna enjoy this for a long time. We have a group text thread that's all the cast, and I can't wait to see the comments. John is the best, and way to go, bud! Looking good."
In typical Hallmark Christmas movie fashion, Kinsey is already thinking about sequels for "Confessions of a Christmas Letter."
"Here's my pitch: In the movie, Juan and Lily (Lillian Doucet-Roche) fall in love, and I think the next one is I plan their wedding. It's on Christmas Day. It's 'Confessions of a Christmas Wedding,'" Kinsey said.
"Confessions of a Christmas Letter" is airing this holiday season on Hallmark Channel and streaming on Hallmark+.
