INDIANAPOLIS — The Junior League of Indianapolis (JLI) and Ausome Indy are hosting its second sensory-friendly trunk-or-treat event.

The free event will be hosted Sunday, Oct. 27 from 2-4 p.m. at Garfield Park. There will be festive-themed trunks, games and candy.

The JLI said this event allows families to enjoy Halloween festivities in an environment designed for children who may struggle with traditional trick-or-treating due to sensory sensitivities.

“Our Sensory-Friendly Trunk-or-Treat is about creating a joyful and welcoming space where every child can experience the excitement of the season in their own way,” said Amber Finley, president of the JLI. “We’re proud to provide a fun, safe and inclusive environment that embraces every child’s unique needs.”

“We are grateful for the opportunity to co-host this special Trunk or Treat event for our Ausome community,” said Kate Miller, co-founder of Ausome Indy. “This event provides a supportive environment for children with autism who may need a little extra time picking out candy, enjoying the decorations, and/or processing all the lights, smells and noises of the season. It’s open to children of all abilities, providing families with a safe, inclusive space to enjoy trick or treating together.”

Event organizers are asking families to register online in advance if you plan on going.
