Downtown Indianapolis businesses see big turnout during first day of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour

"We did not expect this at all, to have a line wrapping around the street the entire day," said the manager of a boutique on Mass Ave.

INDIANAPOLIS — Swifties are stanning for all the merch inside Francis + Fern on Massachusetts Avenue. So much so, there has been a line outside the boutique the last few days.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour finally came to Lucas Oil Stadium Friday night, and fans are ready — and not just those from Indianapolis.

Nadja Maras came all the way from Serbia to see Taylor Swift perform. And while she's not seeing her until Saturday, she's taking in all the fandom and Hoosier hospitality.

"Everyone is nice and talkative, and it's nothing like Serbia, literally," Maras said.

Francis + Fern is located at 421 Massachusetts Ave. in Indianapolis.

It wasn't just the huge balloon display or the cutesy storefront that caused some people to stop by Francis + Fern Friday. Alexa Tiffany, who manages the boutique, said social media has been a huge help, especially after a few posts went viral.

"We did not expect this at all, to have a line wrapping around the street the entire day," Tiffany said. "So it's been two days now that we had this, and it has been amazing for us, and we are just so grateful and so thankful for people choosing to support small businesses."

Two women standing in line said they saw the viral posts and couldn't wait to get their hands on all-things Swift.

"As much as I can get that I like. I have a big suitcase, so I'm excited," they said. They had arrived from Washington and Michigan.

Down the street from the boutique, Tavern at the Point had been preparing for the crowd.

"We ordered heavy. We are prepped. We are ready to go," said Jayson Elliot, the restaurant's bar manager.

Elliott said a lot of people have been stopping in before the concert to grab a Taylor Swift-themed bite or drink.

"We have a special Taylor Swift menu that we're amped to show, with some chicken tenders with 'Seemingly Ranch,' of course," Elliott said.
